This primitive campground is the sweet spot of the Ponca Wilderness. Tent campers and hikers love the location since it offers many different choices of trails to outstanding destinations.
Photographers will love the many choices. The Buffalo River itself is relatively easy to hike here. The blufflines are varied and offer many different points of view.
Indian Creek Canyon is famous for its waterfalls and trecherous hiking trails. The canyon is just upstream from Kyles. This isolated trail is for expert hikers, and never single hikers. People have been seriously injured or died in Indian Creek Canyon from falls
The Old River Trail to Hemmed In Hollow is the closest hike to access Hemmed In Hollow wiithout making the 1,000 foot climb up and down from either Center Point Trailhead or the Compton Trailhead. There are river crossings, but the ORT is interesting along the way and a pleasant hike. With a little planning, hikers can also visit Granny Henderson's and the hazardous Goat Trail atop Big Bluff, the tallest bluff on the Buffalo River.
